The Filipino American Community Health Initiative of Chicago (FACHIC) is a participating agency in the Medicare Fraud Project led by the Coalition of Limited English Speaking Elderly in the Chicago area.

November 2011 Illinois Senior Medicare Patrol Program

The Medicare Open Enrollment Period is October 15 – December 7. During this time, you can change your Medicare health and/or prescription drug coverage for 2012. For assistance in choosing a good plan for you, contact your local senior center or the Illinois SHIP program at (800)548-9034. Beware of insurance agents who offer plans that sound too good to be true. Insurance agents are NOT allowed to call you on the phone or knock on your door unless you called them first. Insurance agents are also NOT allowed to tell you that a plan is “free.” If you have received unsolicited phone calls or home visits from an insurance agent trying to sell you a plan, please report this to the Illinois SMP program at (800)699-9043.

Nobyembre 2011 Ang Programang Illinois Senior Medicare Patrol

Ang panahon ng pagpapa-rehistro para sa Medicare (Medicare Open Enrollment Period) ay ngayong a-15 ng Oktubre hanggang a-7 ng Disyembre. Sa panahon na ito, maaari mong palitan ang sakop (coverage) ng iyong Medicare health at/o parisetang gamot para sa taong 2012. Para sa tulong ng pagpili ng mabuting plan na akma para sa'yo, tawagan ang iyong local senior center o ang Illinois SHIP program sa telepono (800)548-9034. Mag-ingat sa mga ahente ng insurance na maghahandog ng mga plan na kaduda-duda. Ang mga ahente na ito ay walang permisong tawagan kayo sa telepono o sadyain kayo ng personal maliban na lang kung kayo ang naunang tumawag sa kanila. Hindi rin maaaring sabihin ng mga ahente na ang kanilang plan ay "libre". Kung kayo ay makakatanggap ng mga tawag o pagbisita ng ahente sa inyong tahanan upang magbenta ng plan na hindi nyo hiningi , ipaalam kaagad ito sa Illinois SMP program sa telepono (800)699-9043.
