Chicago, IL –  The Filipino American Community Health Initiative of Chicago (FACHIC) is a participating agency in the Medicare Fraud Project led by the Coalition of Limited English Speaking Elderly in the Chicago area. December 2011 Illinois Senior Medicare Patrol Program

If someone steals your Medicare number, they may be billing for services on your account and you may not even know about it!  The only way to catch fraud is to read your statements.  We read our credit card statements to make sure that no one bills our credit card fraudulently.  We also need to read our Medicare statements to make sure that no one steals our benefits!  If you have Medicare, you should receive a statement four times a year.  Read those statements carefully to make sure that everything is correct.  Watch for charges for services or supplies that you did not receive, services that were not ordered by your doctor, or other errors.  If you would like to receive your Medicare Summary Notice in a language other than English, call 1-800-Medicare to request that they send you a statement in your own language.  If you have questions about something you see on your Medicare Summary Notice, contact the Illinois Senior Medicare Patrol Program at AgeOptions for help: (800)699-9043.

Kung may magnakaw ng iyong numero ng Medicare, maaaring maningil ng serbisyo ang magnanakaw gamit ang iyong akawnt ng hindi mo nalalaman! Mahuhuli lang ang panlilinlang na ito kung babasahin mo ang iyong statement. Binabasa natin ang ating mga credit card statement para masiguro na walang maling pagsingil dito. Kailangan ring basahin natin ang ating statement sa Medicare para masiguro na walang magnanakaw ng ating benepisyo! Kung mayroon kang Medicare, tatanggap ka ng statement apat na beses sa isang taon. Basahin ng maigi ang mga statement para masiguro na tama ang lahat ng nakasaad. Bantayan ang mga singil ng serbisyo o kagamitan na hindi mo tinanggap, mga serbisyo na hindi pinag-utos ng iyong duktor, o ano mang ibang pagkakamali. Kung nais mong makatanggap ng Paunawa ng Buod ng Medicare (Medicare Summary Notice) sa ibang wika maliban sa Ingles, tumawag sa 1-800- Medicare upang mahingi na ipadala sa iyo ang statement na ito sa iyong wika.
